Titans Spin Past Cyclones in Shootout



It took a shootout in Trenton, but the Titans defeated the visiting Cyclones 2-1 Friday night.

Bryan Haczyk opened the scoring early on a powerplay goal assisted by Blake Kessel and Andy Bohmbach.

Midway through the second the second period, Jeremy Tucker tied the game on a backhander that spoiled Cal Heeter’s attempt at his first professional shutout.

The game stayed even through regulation and the was decided in a shootout where Heeter made five saves and Andy Bohmbach scored the only goal of the shootout.

Heeter spoke of the unpredictability of the shootout.

“It’s a circus,” he said referring to the shootout.

Coach Vince Williams gave the Cyclones credit,

“I thought they played a really good road game,” he said.

The Titans are still nine points out of a playoff spot with eight games to play. They host Elmira on Sunday and will try to keep on winning in order to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
