Jackals Beat Titans

The Trenton Titans dropped an afternoon showdown in Trenton 4-1 to the Elmira Jackals.

The game started off violently with a pair of fights two seconds apart. First Kevin Harvey and Alex Carrier dropped the gloves in a draw. Then,  Alex Beauregard and Doug Clarkson dropped the gloves and Clarkson landed several solid punches to win the fight.

On the scoreboard, the Jackals would strike first as Rob Bellamy lit the lamp with just 12 seconds left in the period.

Coach Vince Williams summed up the situation.

“Giving up a goal last minute is always hard.” He said.

Things didn’t improve in the second as Jean Bourbeau would tap in a goal on a two on one off a feed from Brandon Blandina. The Jackals controlled play outshooting the Titans 32-16 after two periods.

Jacob Cepis gave the Titans a chance with a rebound goal early in the third cutting the deficit to 2-1.

However, late in the game, Jordon Southorn would strike with a goal from the point and Bellamy would add an empty netter to end it 4-1.

The Titans hope to keep their slim playoff hopes alive with Elmira again Friday night.
