Former Titan Hayes Stings Trenton

A rain soaked day outside wasn’t much happier inside as the South Carolina Stingrays stung the Trenton Titans with a 3-1 victory at Sun National Bank Center.

The first period was uneventful, marred by the fact both teams struggled to skate on some very bad ice conditions.

“The ice wasn’t good at all, it was terrible," said head coach Vince Williams. "It was bad, it was slow, the puck was sticking, people’s skates just stopping"

Williams wasn't the only observer of the poor ice conditions.

"It was slow, but you can’t really use that as an excuse,” Andy Bohmbach added.

The second period wasn't much better, but the Stingrays broke through as Matt Beca scored on a two-on-one opportunity, beating Titans goalie Niko Hovinen.

Midway through the third period, Bohmbach scored to tie the game up, 1-1.

However, the tie game was short lived as former Titan Ryan Hayes, traded recently to South Carolina, scored on a rebound to tally the eventual winning goal of the game, giving South Carolina a 2-1 advantage.

Andrew Sackrison added an empty netter in the final seconds of the game to make it 3-1.
