Flyers Win On Late Leino Rama

On a night the Flyers organization retired Bob Clarke's number 16 for a second time, the Flyers earned a win on a late Ville Leino Spin-o-rama.

For Leino it was the game winner, his second of the evening and 13th for the season.

With Ville Leino hovering around the slot in front the the Predators net, Claude Giroux threw a pass that hit Leino on the forehand with his back to the net.

With his only option to spin towards his backhand, as he had a D-man defending any forehand move, Leino spun and lifted a backhand shot over the glove of Lindback for the game winner. Leino's first goal, his 12th, came on the power play earlier in the third and that put the Flyers up 2-1.

The Flyers would surrender that lead just over three minutes later when Joel Ward put a wrist shot past Bob. Jeff Carter scored the first goal of the game just over half way into the first period to give the Flyers the 1-0 lead.

The lead did not last long as one minute and one second later Marcel Goc picked up a rebound off Bobrovsky's pad and wristed a shot into the back of the net to tie the game at one.

This was a very closely played game as the shots on goal were almost exact with the Flyers generating 29 shots while the Preds fired off 28.

There were six penalties called tonight, three per team, two of them being five minute fighting majors. That fight was between Carcillo and Dan Klein, it was more of a wrestling match and just when punches were being thrown the refs broke it up to a chorus of boos from the hometown crowd.

Nashville is a tough team to play against as they do not panic and look comfortable in close game situations.

What made it tough for the Flyers is they do not face this team every season and it is hard to get a good read of a team from video. Looks like this win may help kick start the Flyers back to their winning ways.
