Talbot Suffers Broken Leg

The Flyers cannot seem to get any proper momentum going.

Despite building a mini two-game winning streak, the Flyers lost another key player to injury which will keep him out for a while. Max Talbot suffered a broken leg at the end of the second period of the Flyers 5-4 win against Washington and will be out indefinitely.

With just over a minute to go, Talbot collided with Capitals defenseman Mike Green. The replay made it look like Talbot was cut on the back of the leg with Green's skate but the Flyers said after the game that wasn't the case.

Instead, Talbot may have either awkwardly landed or his skate got caught up somehow but the video replay does show the point where Talbot shows obvious pain.

Talbot couldn't put any pressure on his left leg. He had to be helped up the tunnel, and halfway to the locker room needed to be carried the rest of the way.

Losing Talbot is a huge blow to Philadelphia. Talbot is one of their top penalty killers and has been clicking on the third line with Zac Rinaldo. Plus he's one of the team's veterans is a great locker room presence.

"When you lose a guy like Max, a penalty killer, a heart and soul guy for the team, you have got to stay focused," head coach Peter Laviolette said after the game. "You have to stay in the game. I guess we will sit through where it is all at, regarding Max."

Talbot has five goals and five assists in 35 games this season.

Talbot's injury joins Brayden Coburn (shoulder - out indefinitely), Andrej Meszaros (shoulder - out for season), Danny Briere (concussion) and Nicklas Grossmann (upper body - day-to-day).
