Scott Hartnell Will Play Today vs Winnipeg
Coming as a surprise to everyone, Scott Hartnell will be back in the Flyers lineup this afternoon against the Winnipeg Jets.
Having been out of action since January 22, Hartnell needed less than five weeks to recover from the broken foot he sustained after finding out he could have missed up to eight weeks.
The return couldn't come at a better time as the Flyers lost Matt Read this past Wednesday.
General manager Paul Holmgren told reporters on Wednesday that Hartnell could return in 7-10 days. Hartnell then said that he was still about a week away from a return.
Three days later, he's back in the Flyers lineup. Hartnell wanted to test his foot in physical play and practiced with the Phantoms yesterday. It's safe to say that practice went well for the 30-year-old.
It'll be huge too because Read was a top-line forward and the move could allow Hartnell to take his spot on the top line. Hartnell has just one point in three games this season.
