Harry Zolnierczyk Suspended Four Games
The Flyers winger Harry Zolnierczyk has been suspended by the league's front offices for his hit on Saturday.
Zolnierczyk was suspended four games for his hit on Ottawa's Mike Lundin in the first period of the Flyers 2-1 win. Lundin left the game and never returned.
Zolnierczyk "launched" himself at Lundin, leaving his feet and driving his shoulder into Lundin's head. He was issued with a five-minute major for charging and a 10-minute game misconduct.
"As Lundin comes into the offensive zone, he cuts to the middle and dishes the puck to his wing," head of discipline Brendan Shanahan explained in his video. "Zolnierczyk, who has Lundin lined up, moves in for the hit. However, instead of delivering a hard, legal check, he launches prior to the check, making significant contant to Lundin's head. This is charging."
Zolnierczyk will lose abotu $13,000 in salary during those four games. Mike Knuble is expected to replace Zolnierczyk in the lineup.
