Gustafsson Suffers Lower-Body Injury

It wasn't all good news for the Flyers on Wednesday.

Defenseman Erik Gustafsson left the Flyers' 4-1 win over the Capitals in the second period after suffering a lower-body injury.

About seven minutes into the period, Gustafsson blocked a shot by Capitals winger Eric Fehr. The shot hit him in the shin, but that may not be the source of the pain.

Rumors have it that Gustafsson possibly pulled a muscle in his groin while going down to block the shot. Gustafsson is confident that the injury isn't serious and he could be back soon for the Flyers.

"Obviously you don't want to be injured but it's part of the game," Gustafsson told Rob Parent of the Delco Times. "Stuff happens. It got treated... I'll be back sooner rather than later."

Gustafsson, 24, played only 7:54 in the game before leaving. It came a day after he was second in ice time for the Flyers with 20:08 in their 4-2 loss to Toronto on Monday.
