Flyers Will Pick 11th in the 2013 NHL Amateur Draft

The Flyers found out where they will pick in the 2013 Amateur Draft in June.

Not moving anywhere up or down in the draft order, the Flyers earned the 11th pick in the draft. The draft will take place on June 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

The only big upset of the draft lottery was the Colorado Avalanche taking the number one pick from the Florida Panthers, who had the worst record and the best odds in the NHL. Florida was at a 25% chance of winning the lottery while the Avs had an 18.5% chance of winning.

The Flyers may not be getting their hands on Seth Jones, Jonathan Drouin or Nathan MacKinnon but they can certainly find some talent at the 11 spot.

A lot of people are discussing what position the Flyers will pick and the general consensus has them looking to sure up the blue line. Here are five defensemen to look for at that point of the draft:

Ryan Pulock - Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Pulock is one of the more consistent names seen in the 11th spot. Two-way defenseman with good puck-moving abilities. Was injured this past season for a but it doesn't seem to have hurt his stock.

Darnell Nurse - Soo Greyhounds (OHL)

Nurse's uncle is former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. He's a very physical, defensive-minded blueliner. Many experts have him climbing into the top 10, and near the top 5. He may not be around for the Flyers.

Rasmus Ristolainen - Finland

Big and mobile, Ristolainen has the skills the Flyers covet. He's a great puck-mover, has a good body that can hang with NHL players and has a great defensive mind. He could very well fall into the Flyers' lap and they'd be lucky to draft him.

Nikita Zadorov - London Knights (OHL)

Has something you can't teach players: size. He's 6'5", 229 pounds and is an absolute ferocious defenseman. He has also ascended into the top 10 and may be gone before Philadelphia can get their hands on him. He would be an absolute steal at 11.

Shea Theodore - Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)

Theodore is kinda small for a 6'2" guy. He has a lot of skill with the puck and as a skater but he's lacking a bit in the defensive department. He has room to grow but may be a risk at 11. Still, he's rated pretty high.
