Flyers Sign St. Lawrence's Kyle Flanagan

The Flyers have signed a college player to an entry level contract.

They signed the two-year captain of the St. Lawrence University Saints (ECAC), Kyle Flanagan, to a one-year deal that will start next season. He was also signed to a tryout contract with the Adirondack Phantoms for the remainder of this season.

General manager Paul Holmgren is hoping to find another diamond in the rough much like he did when he signed former Bemidji State forward Matt Read in 2011. Last season, Read led all rookies with 27 goals for the Flyers.

Flanagan, 24, is an undersized forward, clocking in at 5'9" and 170 pounds soaking wet. But in 35 games this season, the Canton, NY native has 15 goals and 32 assists.

Flanagan doesn't have any major health concerns, though he did have his appendix taken out last month.

St. Lawrence's season ended this past Saturday when they lost 2-0 in the best of three series with Yale in the second round of the ECAC tournament.

Here's a video of one of Flanagan's slick moves.
