Flyers Send Andrej Meszaros to Boston

The Flyers have dealt defenseman Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins for a conditional pick on Wednesday.

The conditions of the pick won't be revealed until later tonight when Meszaros has a conference call with the NHL. The conditions are in the Flyers favor, and could either be a better pick or more than one.

Meszaros, 28, has five goals and 12 assists in 38 games this season. He also played for his home country Slovakia in the Olympic games during February.

Meszaro's last three seasons in Philadelphia have been rough ever since they acquired him from Tampa Bay. Injuries, an oversized contract and inconsistent play plagued much of his time here.

Meszaros, if he continues to be healthy, will bolster the Bruins blue line. They have been hurting in that department ever since they lost Dennis Seidenberg to a season-ending knee injury at the beginning of the season.

Meszaros will be a free agent at the end of the season. He is in the final year of a six-year, $24 million contract signed in 2008-09.

The NHL trade deadline was up at 3 p.m., and the Meszaros trade looks like the final move the Flyers will make. They acquired Andrew MacDonald on Tuesday.
