The Flyers have Listed Read, Meszaros, Grossmann as Day-to-Day
In a huge surprise this afternoon, the Flyers have upgraded the status of three of their injured players.
Both Matt Read and Andrej Meszaros have been listed as day-to-day after having another successful practice this morning. Nicklas Grossmann, who left yesterday's game early and didn't return, was also listed as day-to-day.
Meszaros has been on the shelf since January 26, the fourth game of the season, with a separated shoulder. Though he is listed as day-to-day, he hasn't participated in any contact drills and won't be cleared to return until he does so.
Meszaros said his progress is "slow" and that how he feels changes each day.
“Yeah, it’s mine,” said Meszaros of his decision to return, “but I want to talk to a doctor about it and see…if he thinks it can get worse or not. You don’t want to go out there and feel shaky, and maybe a little scared to not do the right play and get scored on. That’s not the way I want to play. I want to go out there and do everything I was doing before.”
The biggest surprise though was Read. Read tore muscles in his rib cage two weeks ago and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks. The injury was two weeks ago on February 20.
Read had been skating the past week, taking part in contact drills and wearing a regular jersey. He said he still feels some pain and discomfort, but it's getting better with each day.
