Flyers Beat Penguins in OT; Lock Up First Round Series with Rangers

The Flyers found out who their first round opponent in the playoffs will be.

The Flyers beat the Penguins 4-3 in overtime, clinching third place in the Metropolitan Division. It will set up a first round series with the New York Rangers, who the Flyers have had a poor track record with this season.

Jakub Voracek scored the first two goals for the Flyers, and his assist on Claude Giroux's third period goal gave the Flyers a temporary lead. The lead lasted just 38 seconds when Kris Letang tied the game up, forcing overtime.

Mark Streit scored the game-winner two minutes, 50 seconds into overtime to win it.

The Flyers got a scare late in the second period.

Starting goalie Steve Mason, who was playing exceptionally well with 21-of-22 shots stopped, was bowled over in the crease. He left after the second period with an upper body injury, giving way to Ray Emery.

Mason was pulled out as a precaution, but he was drilled pretty hard. The Flyers have to hope he is healthy for the playoffs.
