Deal For Cleary Falls Through; Signs With Red Wings
The Flyers will not be signing free agent winger Daniel Cleary.
According to Ansar Khan of MLive.com, Cleary texted Khan to tell him he is heading to Detroit to sign a contract Thursday night with the Red Wings.
Cleary and his former team have reportedly agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million deal, tweeted Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun. This news comes hours after it was reported that Cleary did not show up to Flyers training camp Thursday morning.
Cleary and the Flyers were originally reported to have agreed on a deal worth $8.25 million over three years on Tuesday but that was not the case as general manager Paul Holmgren denied that a deal was set. Holmgren did say though that he expected Cleary to be at camp.
