Brayden Schenn Suspended One Game
Flyers forward Brayden Schenn has been suspended one game by the NHL displinary office.
Schenn had a phone call conversation with Brendan Shanahan over his hit in the 2nd period of the Flyers' 3-0 loss in New Jersey. With 7:22 left in the period, Schenn bowled over Anton Volchenkov, appearing to have left his feet in the process.
In Shanahan's explanation, he said Schenn was suspended for a "reckless elbow to the head" of Volchenkov.
Volchenkov, who has been known to make similar questionable hits, commented on Schenn's hit.
“It was jump, but it’s hockey,” Volchenkov said today. “There’s contact sometimes. I’m not sure if he was trying to hurt me or just hit me hard. But I feel good. Now, it’s a decision for the league. I’m sure he was just trying to hit me, but the guy jumped.”
