Blackhawks Pummel Flyers

The Blackhawks errupted for five goals in the second period en route to a 7-2 beating of the Flyers on Wednesday.

Three former Flyers - Michal Handzus, Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg - scored a goal apiece and combined for seven points in the win. Goalie Ray Emery was pulled after allowing six goals.

The Flyers carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on Jakub Voracek's fifth goal of the season. But Chicago opened the second period strong, scoring twice in the opening 82 seconds and held a 3-1 lead less than six minutes in.

After Handzus made it 3-1, the Flyers quickly answered to cut the lead to 3-2. Steve Downie got the goal thanks to Brayden Schenn and Mark Streit.

Chicago piled on, getting goals from Versteeg and Jonathan Toews in the second period to give them a 5-2 lead. Brent Seabrook's third period goal chased Emery, who made 12 saves, and Patrick Sharp's goal was the extra point.

Antti Raanta made 28 saves for the Blackhawks, who were out-shot by the Flyers.
