Flyers get eaten alive by the Sharks - again, 4-1
Not a good night for the Orange-and-Black as the streak continues.
What streak, you ask? The Flyers are 0-6-4 against the Sharks since 2000. Not very good, eh? And 2000? Really? That's almost a decade ago, folks.
Backup goalie Brian Boucher looked terrible in net - on the bright side he fits fight in with his defensive corps - Timonen and Coburn were both a minus-3, put's them both at minus-8 on the year.
Boucher blamed himself for his performance after the game, and rightfully so. He let in three WEAK goals, including two to Manny Malhotra - his first and second on the year.
“All four of them - they were awful goals to give up; they were backbreakers,” said Boucher, making his season debut. “You can’t expect to win games when the goalie gives up four games like that. I’ll be better.” -CSN
As a whole the Flyers looked a little worn out and didn't capitalize on their chances in the offensive zone. This is a game they could of had, despite Boucher playing to poorly.
Without stats in front of me - this had to be Boucher's first start in over six months or more.. so he can't take all the blame. The bad continues it's roller-coaster like season and hasn't played consistent since the first three games of the season. Everyone needs to get better, not just backup goalie Brian Boucher.
On the other hand, San Jose goalie Andrew Greiss stopped 37-of-38 shots. Must be nice SJS.
'Til next time, take care.
