The Orange and Black have two straight wins for the first time in a while, so why not go for three?
That’s what they’ll be doing tonight when they host the Red Wings (TCLFlyers). Tonight is Mark Howe’s night (CSNPhilly) at the Wells Fargo Center, and the Flyers will sure want to make it special for him and gain two points. They do have success when playing on celebratory nights (Philly.com).
Bryzgalov will be in net again, and he’s been getting hot (Broad Street Buzz) at the perfect moment of the season: coming down the playoff stretch (CSNPhilly). Forward Danny Briere believes he’s a better teammate as well (CSNPhilly).
While Bryz will stay in, defenseman Kimmo Timonen will be out for at least one more game. What was first pronounced as a lower body injury has now been clarified a bit. He is believed to have a back injury (CSNPhilly). However, if the Flyers continue to stay penalty-free, they can be hard to beat with or without the solid defenseman (Philly.com).
When thinking of the Flyers and defenseman, the two newly acquired Pavel Kubina and Nicklas Grossman come to mind. See the error in that sentence? Neither do most Flyers fans. Apparently, ever since Nicklas Grosmann has had his name misspelled ever since he joined the NHL. He finally told the Flyers, and it will be fixed tonight (The 700 Level).
The Penguins were the only division team in action last night...

They hosted the Phoenix Coyotes. In a 2-1 win, Fleury led the Pens with 36 saves on 37 shots (NHL.com). They’ve now moved four points ahead of the Flyers.
In what’s sure to be another great game, the Rangers will be in New Jersey to battle the Devils (In Lou We Trust). The hate the two teams have for each other will be sure to make another hard-nosed big hitting game.
The Islanders next game will be on Thursday, when they’ll be away to the Devils. The Isles’ front office faces many questions as the rebuild of the team pushes forward (TCL Isles).
