Better With Popcorn

In one of their more upsetting losses of the season, the Flyers made one too many mistakes and it cost them.  They did play a solid game, but the Lightning took advantage of every mistake the Flyers made, and the Flyers lost 5-3 (TCL Flyers).  In a one-goal game, Matt Carle turned the puck over right in front of the net and the Lightning extended their lead to two, only to get one more empty-netter.  He took the blame and apologized to his team and the fans of Philadelphia (CSNPhilly).

Carle shouldn’t be the only one blamed for last night’s loss though (Broad Street Buzz).  Danny Briere also had a bad turnover in the neutral zone leading to a shorthanded breakaway for the Bolts.  He needs to turn his game around before the playoffs start so he can be productive when they do start (CSNPhilly).

To add insult to injury, stellar goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov is now listed as day-to-day and will not play Thursday.  He was seen limping after the game (TCL Flyers) and the injury is now believed to be a chip fracture in his right foot (CSNPhilly).  Kimmo Timonen will also join him on the injured list as ‘day-to-day.’  His injury has only been classified as an “upper-body” one (@DaveGIsaac).

Bobrovsky will be starting in Toronto on Thursday with Jason Bacashihua as his backup.  Marc Andre Bourdon will be in for Timonen (@ReluctantSE).  This just means defenseman like Kubina, who has fit in nicely with the Flyers (Daily News), will just need to step up and play even harder like they have all season.  Hartnell, who has been one of the big surprises for the Flyers this season (CSNPhilly), will need to continue his production on the other side of the ice.

All of this will be key if they plan on beating the Penguins, or maybe the Rangers, in the playoffs.
