The season series between the Flyers and Islanders this season has been a bit different compared to others.
The Flyers are only 4-5 vs the 14th place Islanders, a team that the team almost always dominates every game. Now with Bryzgalov playing exceptionally well, the Flyers and their rest-easy D (Delco Times) should have no problem getting back to business against the Isles (TCLFlyers) as long as they build off Tuesday night’s win (CSNPhilly).
Bryzgalov will be shooting for the Flyers’ shutout record (The Inquirer). He currently has gone 218 minutes, 42 seconds without allowing a goal and the record is 227:40 set by John Vanbeisbrouck. The team is building off his success and gaining plenty of confidence from him (CSNPhilly Video).
Meanwhile, forward Danny Briere will look to stay on the score sheet, something which is very likely simply because he’s happy (Broad Street Buzz). While he hasn’t had the best of years, superstar Claude Giroux has. He’s earned the ultimate respect from guys around the league for it, too (CSNPhilly).
Speaking of respect, 40-year-old Jaromir Jagr has a ton of it. Recently, he was nominated by the Philly media for the Bill Masterton Trophy. Looking at previous winners, you may not think of Jagr as a worthy candidate. That couldn’t be farther from the truth though (Puck Daddy).
The Rangers vs Penguins game will have hockey fans’ peeling their eyes to the television...
There are two simple reasons for this. One, the Penguins are just six points away from the division lead and have a game in hand, making the two points up for stake extremely valuable (Blueshirt Banter). The second reason? Sidney Crosby is finally back in action, and the Pens are now the team to beat if they weren’t before (RLD Hockey).
While their game may be overshadowed by the Penguins and Rangers, the Devils will still be playing tonight. They’ll be hosting the Colorado Avalanche, trying to forget about their 3-0 loss on Tuesday (NHL.com).
