Link Checks 1/19/2012
The Flyers have lost just one home game since the New Year started, and they will be looking to continue that again tonight, hosting the New York Islanders (TCLFlyers). Also, the dominance vs the Islanders will hopefully continue. The Islanders last win in Philadelphia was on April 7, 2007.
Many fans remember the hit Steve Staios delivered to Flyers' Max Talbot last time these two teams met up (YouTube). Some are wondering if the Flyers will maybe dish out some payback to the Islanders squad (CSNPhilly). Surely it was a dirty hit, and Staios' laughing about it on the bench didn't go over too well. Staios is a healthy scratch for tonight's game, but who knows...Maybe something will happen. Enforcer Jody Shelley, a team favorite (CSNPhilly), will be in the lineup.
“I don’t know. We’ll see," Claude Giroux said. "Obviously, us and the Islanders have had a couple games where it gets a little rough. That’s what hockey is all about. Rivalries. We’ll see."
Speaking of Giroux, one man he sure likes playing with is 39-year-old Jaromir Jagr. The Czech legend has been averaging almost a point a game, with 12 goals and 22 assists through 38 games. Giroux, and Flyers fans, will be happy to hear that he thinks his future will be with the Orange and the Black (TCLFlyers).
