This past weekend has not been a good one for Flyers fans. Before the game Saturday, it was announced that James vanRiemsdyk would be out indefinitely due to a concussion (TCLFlyers). Later that night, the Flyers were 4-2 losers in Nashville (TCLFlyers). Despite Bobrovsky being on a roll, Laviolette started Bryzgalov that game, again hoping things will pan out.
Whether to start Bobrovsky or Bryzgalov has become an issue divided (TCLFlyers). Either way, the 128 goals allowed by the Flyers this season is not all in part to the goaltenders. The Flyers defense could still use some improving, and there are different options for who they could add to the team or what they need to do (TCLFlyers).
The Flyers were 2-2 on their road trip, and are now happy to be home (flyers.nhl.com) for the next nine out of 12 games. Next on the schedule are the 22-16-7 Minnesota Wild, who the Flyers prepared for today during morning practice (NHLFlyers tweet). At the practice, forward Zac Rinaldo went off the ice after being hit in the face by a puck. He is not expected to miss any time, however (Sarah Baicker tweet).
The NHL-leading Rangers aren't making it easy for the Orange & Black to catch them.
On Saturday night, they showed the Maple Leafs why they're in first place, beating them 3-0 (NHL.com). It was the Rangers who were conquered last night though, losing to the Montreal Canadiens, 4-1 (The Checking Line).
The Penguins didn't play Saturday, but were 6-3 winners against the Lightning on Sunday, a game in which Evgeni Malkin had a natural hat trick (NHL.com).
