Philadelphia Flyers select Scott Laughton with 20th pick in NHL Draft
The Flyers selected Scott Laughton with the 20th pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.
Laughton is a two-way centre with a scoring touch and a physical edge to his game.
He is incredible at the defensive side of the game, which is one of the aspects of his game that stands out.
His quick release makes him a threat to shoot from anyone on the ice. His awareness and creativity make him difficult for goalies and defenders to read.
He is not going to dazzle with puck tricks or dangles, but he can pass and shoot at a high level and has great vision.
Laughton made tremendous strides in his sophomore season. As a rookie he scored 12 goals and added 11 assists. In his sophomore year he put up 21 goals and 32 assists.
He was almost a point-per-game player for the Oshawa Generals in the playoffs, registering five points in six games.
At six feet tall and 180 pounds, he is growing into his frame well.
He was born in Oakville, Ontario and is 18 years old.
