Here’s to Hoping This is Jake’s Turnaround

With Claude Giroux’s MVP like performance, Steve Mason’s impressive play in net, the domination of Wayne Simmonds and Sean Couturier’s consistent maturity, it has been hard to think of anything negative about this Flyers team.

And why would you want to?

But unfortunately Jakub Voracek had a rather rough performance immediately after the Olympics which seemed to be a carryover of his inconsistent play through January. With just six goals in January and the very beginning of February and three goals after the Olympic break up until last Saturday, it is clear that Voracek has had his struggles.

The bright side of it all is that Voracek has bounced back nicely recently with three goals and two assists in his last five games.

The Flyers have the benefit of a deep offense. It is easy to expect scoring from all four lines in Philadelphia. Not much has been made about Voracek’s struggles, because when they weren’t blending in with the team’s struggles, they were overshadowed by the team’s resurgence.

Luckily this all just means that every fan can look forward to yet another imposing offensive threat against the opposition. With Voracek finding his scoring touch, the Flyers will immediately become even more impressive. This team is truly a team of comebacks and it is not surprising that Voracek has found his part in the magic.

And believe it or not, while Jake is considered to have struggled at times this season, he is still third in points and goals and second in assists on the Flyers. And he is one goal away from matching his career high of 22. But when you compare these statistics to last season, it is clear that Voracek was a consistent dominant force then with 22 goals and 46 points in 48 games. This would have him projected for about 38 goals and 79 points in an 82 game season.

The bar was set extremely high for expectations of No. 93 coming into this season for obvious reasons which is why it is safe to say that Voracek should have more offense coming in the final nine games of the season now that his confidence is likely to be high.

Things continue to get better for the Flyers. With another weapon heating up, it is sure to become even more exciting in Philadelphia. Voracek is capable of offensive dominance, so this personal revival of his is an extremely good sign of things to come.
